Tahoe Center for Environmental Studies

Sierra Nevada College and UC Davis partnered to create the Tahoe Center for Environmental Studies facility for environmental science research and education. This 40,000 facility is among the first of five labs to reach LEED Platinum Certification and the first in the state of Nevada.  Through architectural, mechanical, electrical and lighting integration, the building is able to perform 60% better than ASHRAE 90.1 baseline standards. Roof mounted photovoltaics and a heat recovery system allow the building to produce energy on-site. Skylights and high performance glazing systems along with effective task lighting and lighting controls create an extremely energy efficient lighting system and high quality visual environment.
